     Hsinchu City Library of Cultural Affairs Bureau was formerly known as Hsinchu City Library. Hsinchu City Library was established on March 1, 2000 and was reorganized from the original Hsinchu City Library of Cultural Center. Hsinchu City Library of Cultural Center was established on October 31, 1986 from the renovation of “Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall” formed by Hsinchu County Government in 1980.

    In August, 1999, the government published “Organizational Guidelines for Local Administrative Agencies.” The Cultural Center was adjusted to Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu City Government, belonging to a bureau in the government. The library was updated to a second-level agency in the city government. It used the original building for the cultural center, but now under the instruction and supervision of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, City Government. It is the only public library in Hsinchu City and was incorporated into Cultural Affairs Bureau, Hsinchu City on July1, 2004.
